Learn to create new places for new people
Clergy and laity from both new congregations and established churches seeking to create new places for new people can register now for the 2013 School of Congregational Development Aug. 15-18 in Denver. The theme is "Encountering God at the Edge."
Those on site will gain from plenary sessions, workshops and learning tracks and exploring "big ideas" with Denver area churches. "Saturday Satellite Experiences" will let people unable to attend the event in person hear the Rev. Dottie Escobedo-Frank, pastor at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Phoenix and the Rev. Rudy Rasmus of St. John's Downtown United Methodist Church in Houston. They will teach via live streaming to seven satellite sites in the United States on the "Jesus Insurgency: The Church Revolution from the Edge" on Saturday, Aug. 17. Plenary and worship speakers will be Bishop Elaine J.W. Stanovsky, Mountain Sky Area; the Rev. Jerry Herships, chief love monger and lead spiritual entrepreneur of AfterHours Denver, a United Methodist faith community; the Rev. Ruben Saenz, executive director for new church development and transformation, Southwest Texas Conference; Charles Lee, CEO and chief idea-maker at Ideation and author of Good Idea, Now What?, and the Rev. Jasmine Smothers, associate director, office of connectional ministries, North Georgia Conference.
Registration for the School for Congregational Development is $425 until July 15 and $475 for those registering later and onsite.
