Glossary of Terms: Term definition

year, church

The official program and fiscal period used in The United Methodist Church for planning and administration. The General Conference has established the calendar year (January 1 through December 31) as the church year. The term of office for the officers in a local church is also the calendar year. The Christian calendar is follwed for the observances of important Christian events and worship emphases.
