Emblazoned across the top of each UMC.org page are these words: The world is our parish! Not the exact words of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, but they evoke the same edict, one of global evangelism. As United Methodists, we are part of a denomination without walls, one that takes us out of the security of our buildings and into communities that our worldwide ministry serves.
The UMC.org Web ministry staff takes this charge seriously, and as such, we are called to reach out to a global community by means of the Internet.
Bringing you closer to the life of Christ is our core purpose. A new term for most, Web ministry most closely describes our mission. When the power of the Internet is harnessed to share the love of Jesus Christ throughout the world, Web ministry is occurring.
By logging on to UMC.org, believers from every corner of the globe are able to worship, pray for, and share their stories of faith at all times of the day. The goal of our ministry is not to replace the church experience, but provide a place for believers to connect Monday-through-Saturday, always emphasizing the importance of worship in the local church.
