SUNDAY SCHOOL: Worship on the Waves
Most Sunday school teachers deal with shrinking attendance in the summer months, but few approached the problem like Pell City (Ala.) First Church.
After noticing the dip in attendance, one member offered his boat for a change of venue. Sunday school teachers Teresa Harris and Joey Hutto took him up on it, dubbing the experience “Lessons on the Lake.”
Between August and September, as many as 22 students showed up each week. Most said being on the lake made Sunday school more enjoyable.
“It enhances the classes,” Harris said. “It’s hard to deny God when you’re sitting there looking at a beautiful lake and all the surroundings.”
