Real Hurricane Relief Real Hurricane Relief
Pine Island United Methodist Church in Florida has seen nearly 100 families leave the congregation since Hurricane Charley struck last year. While those families have sought less storm-prone surroundings, others have stayed and are still picking up the pieces. The church is helping them rebuild their homes and repair the emotional damage that comes with such a disaster.
Coping Without Fathers Coping Without Fathers
When United Methodist Shawn Askinosie was young, his father died and no one wanted him to discuss it. Today, he is a successful attorney who is making sure that children who've experienced the loss of a loved one don't have to suffer silently. Shawn founded a grief counseling service for children in Springfield, Missouri called "Lost and Found." He says that he is honoring the memory of his father by helping others heal their broken hearts.
